Free This Week...and probley for another week

One of the things I have come to love and adore is Free Music...legally downloaded. You would think that this purpose of giving out free music is to get your music out to the masses. Who wouldn't want a free download. But it is also a way of instantly gaining respect from the fans you have already, the ones in the beginning who will stick through with you, and respect from those who fall upon your free download and fall in love.

This week has been AMAZING for free music. Not only great bands & well known artists giving away free music but also my new finds that i am attached to at the hip, literally my ipod only plays some of these songs right now.

To start: Kate Walsh (The Acoustic EP) ...This is NOT the Greys Anatomy Actress

I have fallen in love with this folk, acoustic style of music. Its Patty Griffin meets British Pop Invasion. Kate is from a sailing town in Essex which answers the question about the song "Seafarer" She is a simple life kind of girl. Her simplicity is shown in this stripped down acoustic EP. However her songs are nothing but simple. Her songs express an impressive intimacy. "On the Stage" express's a cynicism to her career as a singer. Stating "Wouldn't you like to be here on the stage, I didn't think so" Bearing that it is harder to unravel your heart in front of millions then it is to take in someone elses stories.

Get this EP, You will not be disappointed on those cold nights by the fireplace, or on a rainy night.

2nd Hellogoodbye "When We First Met" EP

What has this band been up to since that loveable infections "Here (In Your Arms)" song. I have to admit I didn't realize how much I had missed their music until I ran across this Free EP. Almost four years now of putting out 2 short EPs before this EP. They are not the same Electro Pop infused band, there is no trace of another dance anthem here, after the hellogoodbye EP it seems as though they abandoned all back beats and stripped everything down for the Ukulele Recordings which was a step forward but certainly that EP had not grown to its full potential. That EP shows the steps Hellogoodbye took to get to "When We First Met" certainly a radio friendly current Electro Pop song. It plays with fun keys, catchy beats, and once again a chorus that catches your attention. I like the place that Hellogoodbye has grown too and I hope that this EP is a teaser for a soon to be released full length album.

Download Hellogoodbye When We First Met EP Free when you sign up for their email list! Really these two songs deserve at the very least your real email address.

The B.Reith EP

This is a teaser for the full length album "Now is Not Forever" available now. It is a great example of what you will get from B.Reith if you purchase his full length album. Certainly "The Comeback Kid" carries the greatness of this free EP. Im a sucker for dance anthems, any sort of beat that makes me turn my head and start to bop it back and forth. Comeback Kid is for certain the catchiest song I have heard from this singer/songwriter/rapper. B. writes in a relatable way, entering real life in a down to earth way. Thats what I think of his songs..."down to earth" 'Mess" is catchy and you will be singing the chorus back to yourself & right after that "Go On" will keep you boppin that head. "Wish That" is the only song on the EP that is a different direction then the others. You won't find yourself breakin to this song. All around for good feeling, cool vibes, and finally some lyricism from a talented soulful pop artist, then you will enjoy this.

4th Miranda Lambert "What Are You Gonna Do"

Ok....I have a weakness when it comes to country. Her name is Miranda Lambert. I have not completely listened to her new album "Revolution' This song isn't on that record so its obviously just to get me hyped up about her again. She is not just another one of the many young and hot blonde country singers. I think she is referred to as the bad a** country star. She keeps a knife on stage during concerts and from what i hear has to shotguns in her tour bus. Im featuring this because Its a classic example of what well known artists should be doing. Miranda Lambert gave us a full length album, and a NEW free song for the heck of it. It's a great song too! Instantly added to my country playlist which has been starving for some adds.

Download this Song FREE on Amazonmp3.com

Go get those songs, most FREE songs aren't free for long, even if you download them now but don't listen to them till next month, trust me you will be glad you did.

Madi Diaz & Boys Like Girls

I decided to start a Album Review Blog...A) to just help me with writing. B) To help me develop a more critical ear to music C) To listen to more albums all the way through.

I know the first few reviews will be rough but hopefully I will get better!

Madi Diaz "Ten Gun Salute" (December 5, 2008)
My first interaction with Madi Diaz's music was at a Free Concert in Nashville. Actually she was singing harmony for an artist of which I have no recollection of. My first thought was, "They need to get a new girl to harmonize" Then that same girl walked on-stage and blew me away. Ten Gun Salute is a refreshing and sweet collection of seven songs. Full of friendly beats, simple lyrics, and a fresh pure voice. Sometimes most refreshing is to hear an album that captures an artists genuine voice. No song is overproduced, and no effects are put on Madi's vocals. I would say this is a true Nashville EP. It's an independent EP that showcase's a rising star in a way that any label would be stupid to pass up.
Ten Gun Salute leaves "Skin and Bone"(her debut EP) in the dust. Madi focuses less on pop influenced folk songs and simply owns a unique sound. "Lets Go", "Nothing At All", "Heavy Heart" & "Love You Now" kick off with such ease and flow so effortlessly together that by the time "Just Be Quiet" is on im ready to press repeat.
Purchase: The Album, Don't miss out on any song on this EP at $6.93 on itunes it is well worth it.

Boys Like Girls "Love Drunk" (September 8, 2009)
When I thought of Boys Like Girls I think "The Great Escape" "Thunder" "Hero/Heroine", these songs were huge in 07. These songs were anthems for the summer almost. I was excited about the "Love Drunk" release. When "Love Drunk" the single came out I was excited for what was to come. Boys Like Girls had produced another radio hit single. No question we knew they could. Then I started listening to the album. I have to preface this with my utter disappointment of Cobra Starships "Hot Mess". Just a month earlier I had the Cobra Starship album pre-ordered and ready to listen as soon as midnight came around. I found the online stream earlier and was disappointed at how Pop mainstream radio they had taken their album. Similar response to "Love Drunk". What happened, my main question was are you a Disney band now? Why is Taylor Swift playing on your record? Seriously "Two is Better Than One" must be the new single for High School Musical 4. I listened to the entire album twice and the only song that made any impression was "Love Drunk" which I had purchased earlier and like i began to boycott "Good Girls Go Bad" by Cobra Starship once I heard "Hot Mess" I now boycott "Love Drunk" after hearing the full album.
Purchase: Nothing, save your money for the next Band of the Summer.
