Free Downloads:

Two Bands although not always the best music, this music is the most affordable!:

Alberta Cross:

Not sure how much longer this song will be available for Free download on Amazonmp3.com but if you like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Killers... stuff like that, this song is a wonderful free download. Alberta Cross "Leave Us & Forgive Us"

http://www.amazon.com/Leave-Us-And-Forgive/dp/B002R543IG/ref=dm_gw_albertacross2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=016RGT4VW3YPPXXMCRDJ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=496995591&pf_rd_i=163856011

Then I just ran accross this song, from a band I have never heard of The Hoodies....song is called Electric Choir...

the band is like a boys like girls, metro station, cute is what we aim for, mayday parade...sound alike band...

the chorus on this song is actually pretty catchy/good though... valid free download... even though you may forget about it being in your iTunes in a few weeks

La Roux ...French For "Red Haired One"

Lets talk for a minute about my newest Euro-Pop sensation. La Roux, you may have downloaded her free single on itunes several months ago. "Bulletproof." La Roux, a duo that has shared the stage with Lily Allen previous to their U.S invasion started out as a more acoustic act. They scrapped the band "Automan" and changed directions taking their music towards the outer limits with a progressive self-titled electro-pop album.

I give you La Roux. A band to watch out for in 2010. This album is full of infectiously quirky songs. "Bulletproof" was my first introduction to La Roux. I downloaded the Free song on iTunes several months ago. It wasn't until recently that I realized what an impression this song had made in my head. Just recently I ran across the song again and was like WHY is this not added to my "Pump Up the Volume" playlist, of which pump me up to workout. This resurgence of the song in my head drove me to sampling the entire album. The album took my love of electronica to new levels. It is proof that their is some good to come from Auto-Tune. The songs are cleverly developed with retro-electronic-keyboard backgrounds. Its a throwback to the 80's and a flash forward to 2025. She has her hard hearted songs, Singer Elly Jackson learns from her mistakes and becomes "Bulletproof", she lays down the law in "Im not Your Toy." She turns on some vulnerability and jealousy in "Cover My Eyes." Something about these euro-invasions has given us brought us many "less then perfect vocals." Her vocals are sometimes over the top, if you find yourself having trouble getting into the sound start with "As If By Magic" a song that seems to fit Jacksons voice to perfection.

I would love to hear French versions of her songs, I think this duo is going to have a bigger impression on the American people in 2010. Just look at that Red Hair, you can't tell me that one hit and this girl will be eaten up!!!

Sorry no free download here but if you look back a few weeks or even from your summer free downloads you may find her already in your itunes. "Bulletproof" was given away on itunes. And "In for the Kill" was given away at the beginning of the summer by Nylon/iTunes in a playlist.

I welcome La Roux with open arms to America and hope she this wonderful live, looking forward to a big tour with her.

More Rocket Summer Clips

Bryce's voice has obviously matured on this new EP. But the same energetic songs that make us love the rocket summer are still the core of the band. Listen to the clip of Light and you will realize that this EP isn't a continuation of "Do You Feel?" Im so excited for October 27th and want everyone to make sure they sample this EP.

The Swell Season

If you didn't see Once then you may not know who The Swell Season is. The Academy Award winning song "Falling Slowly" from the motion picture Once won me over so quickly, I bought the movie before renting it. The Swell Season is the duo behind the hit motion picture.

The Swell Season is perfect musical imperfection. Its stripped down to the bare bits. All you need to know is that this is a Free Download that you will play over and over.

Eye Alaska

Eye Alaska, Who Are You? Where Did You Come From? Why are you not Huge? I have not had time to divulge this entire album for its certain strengths and weaknesses. However Im certain that for being out since JULY it has certainly been underrated or not rated AT ALL. This is a shame. From Fearless Records comes this unexpected gem. Usually Fearless Records is known for boy bands with "just enough talent" they aren't great they are just good lookin, girls love them, and make catchy songs about relationships (sorry: The Maine, Mayday Parade, Plain White T's).

Eye Alaska (Genesis Underground) is best explained by an early Maroon 5 album with some cheesy love songs thrown in there for the girls to gawk over. The band describes it as "cinematic rock"

Im most impressed by the grooviness of songs like "Show Me" which is groovin and jazzy. Sometimes the soul is hard to believe but the band certainly captures a new groove for Fearless Records and goes against the grain of what is popular right now.

"Roll Right Over" is the download that can't be missed. It is cleverly crafted with a great beat, and an infectious chorus that showcases Eye Alaska at its best. I imagine Eye Alaska playing at an outdoor event during the summer and everyone groovin slowly to these upbeat songs.

Imagine Taylor Swift woke up one day and decided to go all Rihanna on us (Good Girl Gone Bad). Basically if Taylor Swift started writing real country songs about beer and Jack Daniels then you would get Ke$ha. I hate her name, just call yourself Kesha...i dont get the money sign. Anyways "Tik Tok" is gaining momentum quickly. Im super impressed with this debut single. I have no idea who this girl is, if she wrote this song, or if she will put out an album that follows up this pop anthem. The song is almost Indie Pop. Cleverly auto-tuned in the beginning, Ke$ha "speak-raps" everything but the chorus. I would argue that this girl really can't sing. Whatever this style of song this is I like it. As for the lyrics of the song, don't expect good morals to be portrayed in anyway. Dancing in the Club, Brushing teeth with Jack Daniels, junk, trunk, you get it. All in good fun though. Add it to your playlist and watch your party will start bumpin, movin, groovin in no time.

Britney is Back

Britney Spears new song "3" is the new secret obsession. The song is extraordinary classy pop. This is no comeback for Britney any more she is back. This song is possibly the catchiest song (in my personal opinion) before her Toxic days. (Pre scandals). Im not big britney fan, her songs are catchy, but Circus to me was just boring thrown together pop. This song is the one that everyone will be ecstatic about when it comes on the radio, when it starts in the club. #1 on iTunes the real question is how long can it play on the radio before it burns, i hope it stays for a while. Well done Britney! Welcome back!

MGMT "Electric Feel" for the Party Playlist

Miss Michael Jackson but tired of hearing Man In the Mirror on every stores playlist from Ruby Tuesday to Macys

try on MGMT for size, but do yourself a favor and get the Justice Remix,

My take on MGMT, HUGE fan of the sick back beats, but some Bass on this album seems to always sound funky on my speakers

the Justice Remix is pure energetic fun....for sure add this to your party playlist

Free Download: Rachel Lampa "You Lift Me Up"

Remember this girl, Where she went, I really dont know.

The only remnants of this once Christian Pop Princess are her random tweets via Official Rachel Lampa twitter:

http://twitter.com/Rachael_lampa ...where she says a new record is "in the works"

Anyways if you didn't get into her in her glory days back in the 90's then you get a chance to download "You Lift Me Up." I remember this song, I remember being 16 and finding out that she was my age and thinking, we will be married. That was before the world of Carrie Underwood & Lauren Conrad, oops did I just give out my celebrity crush's. Anyways this song takes me back to Baptist church and Mom & Dad taking me to the Christian Family Bookstore, where I would sample songs in CD players and huge headsets. Then I would come home and lay in front of the only CD player in our house in the living room where I would preview my latest CDs. Yes...eventually I got a carry around CD player.

Back to the point....the fact that they are giving this song away gives me joy because its pure Contemporary Christian at its best...when to me this was all I knew.

Free Download of the Day

Mika "Blame it On the Girls"

Not long ago Mika bursted into our hearts with such guilty pleasure songs as Grace Kelly, Lollipop, and Love Today. His songs are dynamic super sonic pop songs. At first listen you are instantly attracted to his high energy club beats that back most of his songs. This free song from his recent release "The Boy Who Knew To Much" is true Mika "dizzying pop" Its clever beats and catchy chorus is a sample of his new album. His songs are fantastical, sometimes I have no idea what he is singing about but im right there with him because he takes you with him. "The Boy Who Knew To Much" is great, it is "Life in Cartoon Motion" part 2, which for Mika im ok with. Download today!
