Your Christmas Playlist

For Some Reason the links never posted on this: so here is a link to really everything you need...search on amazon for the rest, sorry ill do better with links:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=dm_gw_25days?ie=UTF8&docId=1000453281&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=0E9HP3YVS6GXEZBKFF6X&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=502068791&pf_rd_i=163856011

Getting ready for the perfect holiday party only comes swiftly with a fresh Christmas party list right. After all what is a Christmas party without Deck the Halls or Jingle Bells. So instead of acting like I don't get all my free downloads from amazon.com lets just start with AmazonMP3 so you can see all the fantastic songs they have as Free downloads this christmas, then we will go on to what you should purchase.

Im in Love with Amazon.com, not only do they offer insane deals on full albums (Over 500 albums for $5) but there daily deals of albums for $1.99, $2.99, and $3.99 have made me a daily subscriber to the amazon.com/mp3 homepage. I await their tweets with great anticipation. P.S Im not even going to mention the 25 Days of Christmas Free download page that they have. Everyday a new Free Christmas song is made available.

Check that out to start your list then move on to the good stuff:

Numero Uno:
Brandon Heath "The Night Before Christmas"

Im a fan of Brandon Heath, you may have heard he is the new Steven Curtis Chapman, don't let that stigma of CCM (Christian Contemporary Music) music deter you from becoming a fan. After all if anyone should do Christmas justice it should be our CCM artists. This song has the spirit of Christmas, warmth and feeling good all light up inside of the song.

Number 2:
House of Heroes "Silent Night"

A free song from the House of Heroes Presents the Christmas Classics EP. This song is like warm me up by the fireside good. I can't listen to this song and NOT want to grab a cup of Hot Chocolate, marshmellows and snuggle up next to a warm fireplace. If you listen to this song and don't feel the same thing its time to go rent A Christmas Carol or Grinch.

Number 3
Ayiesha Woods "Jingle Bells"

I like a litte soul in my Christmas you know. This song should be added to that party playlist for all your friends to get up and dance to before you sit down and exchange those dirty santa's.

Number 4
Some Orchestra "Joy To The World"

No this is not the Trans-Siberian Orchestra but just as good! & FREE

Number 5
MXPX "Auld Lang Syne"

Save it for the New Years party, but don't miss it

Number 6
Jars of Clay "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen"

Just get, im running short on time here: This band has some of the best melodies there is, and I love the front man's simplistic take on this classic.

OK NOW TO BUY:

Just a Few:

A Must for that Christmas Party:

Family Force 5
The Family Force 5 Christmas Pageant

If anything this is the ONLY album you need to complete a successful Christmas party. Its so good that I almost wish Christmas lasted longer than it does.

The Maine
...And A Happy New Year EP

I really thought i was supposed to be a fan of The Maine after this EP, i wasn't but Im still a big fan of this EP...its $2.99 , skip track 2 and you will have a plesent Christmas.

Dang it ... i truely have more to say but this is the second night in a Row that this Coffee house has closed down early. I will give you more this weekend, i think this is Santa's way of saying you dan why don't you get yourself Internet for Christmas.

Anyways take those to start. And Build off of

Also: Always remember the core:

Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas
N'Sync: Home for Christmas
Relient K: Let it Snow... Let it Reindeer
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories

Merry Christmas!

and if your my mom Point of Grace: A Christmas Story

Seabird "Don't You Know Your Beautiful"

Really my only introduction to Seabird was on the radio. I was surprised to hear this song on our local christian radio station. "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" is a really well written, cleverly produced song. Its a great preview of a new project from this band. The band comes from none-other then Da'Nati, that's Cincinnati, Ohio for those of you who didn't grow up there. There label debut album " 'Til We See Shore" seems like it was a steller release. The songs are unique and the musicality of the instruments sometimes reminds me of Coldplay. Aaron Morgan, the lead singer has a quality rock voice. Its unique and he lays out songs that fit him perfectly.

Im more excited at how DYKYB moves the band forward leaps and bounds. With this radio hit their album release is sure to be a good release for them. I love the indie feeling of the beginning, almost like the beginning of a Juno soundtrack. With this single I can't wait to hear whats next. The band releases a 2 song Christmas EP on November the 23rd, Ill keep my ears peeled for theses songs too and can't wait to hear more music from a band that is making the right steps forward.

Get it on iTunes or amazonmp3.com!

Adam Lambert Disappointed?

I think im disappointed in the new Adam Lambert Single... "For Your Entertainment" Hold on... I enjoy this song, im all for these crazy pop songs that we love so much and we spin on the radio until it is killed and we hate it. I will do that exact thing with this song. However, do you remember "Time For Miracles" released just a couple weeks ago. Im just left a little confused as to what Lambert is going for. Does he want to be the male equivalent of Britney Spears, or become a rock icon. I was kind of thinking he was going the Daughtry route.

the single For Your Entertainment was most likely was left on the cutting room floor of Britney Spears last album, so bravo Lambert for picking it up off the floor however I think you sold yourself a little short on this song. Cool song but your voice is better than that. Time For Miracles was a great debut single after American Idol. For Your Entertainment will certainly be played on the radio but it wont win an album purchase from me.

im hoping your album is more like Time For Miracles and less like For Your Entertainment. I thought you may have the upper hand on Kris Allen however im thinking he may actually put out the better album now.

Timbaland For Your Party Playlist: "Morning After Dark"

Remember when Timbaland showed up on the scene several summers ago and we all thought he had just revolutionized music for life. Maybe that was just me, but everyone is still singing "Sexyback" , "Apologize", and " Way I Are" no question these three songs had a huge impact on three artists careers. Timbaland mixing Timberlakes Future *** Love Sounds launched Timberlakes career in the direction it was bound to go. Apologize launched Ryan Tedder's career, and Way I Are opened our eyes to Keri Hilson whose career has been less than explosive however she still has Timberland to thank for a shlew of hits.

So Now he is back again with Nelly Furtado and someone named SoShy. "Morning After Dark" is same ol' Timbaland....addictive. His songs are always backed by massive bass beats. One reason im impressed by Timbaland is how recognizable his songs are by the first few beats. I honestly have no idea what he is saying in this new song. However I do enjoy three minutes and fifty two seconds

Add this to your party playlist before it dies: its the first single from the upcoming album so if this is any description of what is to come, im excited.

Free Downloads:

Two Bands although not always the best music, this music is the most affordable!:

Alberta Cross:

Not sure how much longer this song will be available for Free download on Amazonmp3.com but if you like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Killers... stuff like that, this song is a wonderful free download. Alberta Cross "Leave Us & Forgive Us"

http://www.amazon.com/Leave-Us-And-Forgive/dp/B002R543IG/ref=dm_gw_albertacross2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=016RGT4VW3YPPXXMCRDJ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=496995591&pf_rd_i=163856011

Then I just ran accross this song, from a band I have never heard of The Hoodies....song is called Electric Choir...

the band is like a boys like girls, metro station, cute is what we aim for, mayday parade...sound alike band...

the chorus on this song is actually pretty catchy/good though... valid free download... even though you may forget about it being in your iTunes in a few weeks

La Roux ...French For "Red Haired One"

Lets talk for a minute about my newest Euro-Pop sensation. La Roux, you may have downloaded her free single on itunes several months ago. "Bulletproof." La Roux, a duo that has shared the stage with Lily Allen previous to their U.S invasion started out as a more acoustic act. They scrapped the band "Automan" and changed directions taking their music towards the outer limits with a progressive self-titled electro-pop album.

I give you La Roux. A band to watch out for in 2010. This album is full of infectiously quirky songs. "Bulletproof" was my first introduction to La Roux. I downloaded the Free song on iTunes several months ago. It wasn't until recently that I realized what an impression this song had made in my head. Just recently I ran across the song again and was like WHY is this not added to my "Pump Up the Volume" playlist, of which pump me up to workout. This resurgence of the song in my head drove me to sampling the entire album. The album took my love of electronica to new levels. It is proof that their is some good to come from Auto-Tune. The songs are cleverly developed with retro-electronic-keyboard backgrounds. Its a throwback to the 80's and a flash forward to 2025. She has her hard hearted songs, Singer Elly Jackson learns from her mistakes and becomes "Bulletproof", she lays down the law in "Im not Your Toy." She turns on some vulnerability and jealousy in "Cover My Eyes." Something about these euro-invasions has given us brought us many "less then perfect vocals." Her vocals are sometimes over the top, if you find yourself having trouble getting into the sound start with "As If By Magic" a song that seems to fit Jacksons voice to perfection.

I would love to hear French versions of her songs, I think this duo is going to have a bigger impression on the American people in 2010. Just look at that Red Hair, you can't tell me that one hit and this girl will be eaten up!!!

Sorry no free download here but if you look back a few weeks or even from your summer free downloads you may find her already in your itunes. "Bulletproof" was given away on itunes. And "In for the Kill" was given away at the beginning of the summer by Nylon/iTunes in a playlist.

I welcome La Roux with open arms to America and hope she this wonderful live, looking forward to a big tour with her.

More Rocket Summer Clips

Bryce's voice has obviously matured on this new EP. But the same energetic songs that make us love the rocket summer are still the core of the band. Listen to the clip of Light and you will realize that this EP isn't a continuation of "Do You Feel?" Im so excited for October 27th and want everyone to make sure they sample this EP.

The Swell Season

If you didn't see Once then you may not know who The Swell Season is. The Academy Award winning song "Falling Slowly" from the motion picture Once won me over so quickly, I bought the movie before renting it. The Swell Season is the duo behind the hit motion picture.

The Swell Season is perfect musical imperfection. Its stripped down to the bare bits. All you need to know is that this is a Free Download that you will play over and over.

Eye Alaska

Eye Alaska, Who Are You? Where Did You Come From? Why are you not Huge? I have not had time to divulge this entire album for its certain strengths and weaknesses. However Im certain that for being out since JULY it has certainly been underrated or not rated AT ALL. This is a shame. From Fearless Records comes this unexpected gem. Usually Fearless Records is known for boy bands with "just enough talent" they aren't great they are just good lookin, girls love them, and make catchy songs about relationships (sorry: The Maine, Mayday Parade, Plain White T's).

Eye Alaska (Genesis Underground) is best explained by an early Maroon 5 album with some cheesy love songs thrown in there for the girls to gawk over. The band describes it as "cinematic rock"

Im most impressed by the grooviness of songs like "Show Me" which is groovin and jazzy. Sometimes the soul is hard to believe but the band certainly captures a new groove for Fearless Records and goes against the grain of what is popular right now.

"Roll Right Over" is the download that can't be missed. It is cleverly crafted with a great beat, and an infectious chorus that showcases Eye Alaska at its best. I imagine Eye Alaska playing at an outdoor event during the summer and everyone groovin slowly to these upbeat songs.

October 27th

The Rocket Summer is Releasing a new EP.....

...Im expecting great things...if you aren't excited get excited

Title: You Gotta Believe

Tracks
1) You Gotta Believe
2) Hills and Valleys
3) Light
4) The Fight

Add this to Your Party Playlist

GET THIS SONG FREE HERE: http://www.keshasparty.com/

Imagine Taylor Swift woke up one day and decided to go all Rihanna on us (Good Girl Gone Bad). Basically if Taylor Swift started writing real country songs about beer and Jack Daniels then you would get Ke$ha. I hate her name, just call yourself Kesha...i dont get the money sign. Anyways "Tik Tok" is gaining momentum quickly. Im super impressed with this debut single. I have no idea who this girl is, if she wrote this song, or if she will put out an album that follows up this pop anthem. The song is almost Indie Pop. Cleverly auto-tuned in the beginning, Ke$ha "speak-raps" everything but the chorus. I would argue that this girl really can't sing. Whatever this style of song this is I like it. As for the lyrics of the song, don't expect good morals to be portrayed in anyway. Dancing in the Club, Brushing teeth with Jack Daniels, junk, trunk, you get it. All in good fun though. Add it to your playlist and watch your party will start bumpin, movin, groovin in no time.

Britney is Back

Britney Spears new song "3" is the new secret obsession. The song is extraordinary classy pop. This is no comeback for Britney any more she is back. This song is possibly the catchiest song (in my personal opinion) before her Toxic days. (Pre scandals). Im not big britney fan, her songs are catchy, but Circus to me was just boring thrown together pop. This song is the one that everyone will be ecstatic about when it comes on the radio, when it starts in the club. #1 on iTunes the real question is how long can it play on the radio before it burns, i hope it stays for a while. Well done Britney! Welcome back!

MGMT "Electric Feel" for the Party Playlist

Miss Michael Jackson but tired of hearing Man In the Mirror on every stores playlist from Ruby Tuesday to Macys

try on MGMT for size, but do yourself a favor and get the Justice Remix,

My take on MGMT, HUGE fan of the sick back beats, but some Bass on this album seems to always sound funky on my speakers

the Justice Remix is pure energetic fun....for sure add this to your party playlist

Free Download: Rachel Lampa "You Lift Me Up"

Remember this girl, Where she went, I really dont know.

The only remnants of this once Christian Pop Princess are her random tweets via Official Rachel Lampa twitter:

http://twitter.com/Rachael_lampa ...where she says a new record is "in the works"

Anyways if you didn't get into her in her glory days back in the 90's then you get a chance to download "You Lift Me Up." I remember this song, I remember being 16 and finding out that she was my age and thinking, we will be married. That was before the world of Carrie Underwood & Lauren Conrad, oops did I just give out my celebrity crush's. Anyways this song takes me back to Baptist church and Mom & Dad taking me to the Christian Family Bookstore, where I would sample songs in CD players and huge headsets. Then I would come home and lay in front of the only CD player in our house in the living room where I would preview my latest CDs. Yes...eventually I got a carry around CD player.

Back to the point....the fact that they are giving this song away gives me joy because its pure Contemporary Christian at its best...when to me this was all I knew.

Check It out ...download it via amazonmp3.com

Free Download of the Day

Mika "Blame it On the Girls"

Not long ago Mika bursted into our hearts with such guilty pleasure songs as Grace Kelly, Lollipop, and Love Today. His songs are dynamic super sonic pop songs. At first listen you are instantly attracted to his high energy club beats that back most of his songs. This free song from his recent release "The Boy Who Knew To Much" is true Mika "dizzying pop" Its clever beats and catchy chorus is a sample of his new album. His songs are fantastical, sometimes I have no idea what he is singing about but im right there with him because he takes you with him. "The Boy Who Knew To Much" is great, it is "Life in Cartoon Motion" part 2, which for Mika im ok with. Download today!

Free This Week...and probley for another week

One of the things I have come to love and adore is Free Music...legally downloaded. You would think that this purpose of giving out free music is to get your music out to the masses. Who wouldn't want a free download. But it is also a way of instantly gaining respect from the fans you have already, the ones in the beginning who will stick through with you, and respect from those who fall upon your free download and fall in love.

This week has been AMAZING for free music. Not only great bands & well known artists giving away free music but also my new finds that i am attached to at the hip, literally my ipod only plays some of these songs right now.

To start: Kate Walsh (The Acoustic EP) ...This is NOT the Greys Anatomy Actress

I have fallen in love with this folk, acoustic style of music. Its Patty Griffin meets British Pop Invasion. Kate is from a sailing town in Essex which answers the question about the song "Seafarer" She is a simple life kind of girl. Her simplicity is shown in this stripped down acoustic EP. However her songs are nothing but simple. Her songs express an impressive intimacy. "On the Stage" express's a cynicism to her career as a singer. Stating "Wouldn't you like to be here on the stage, I didn't think so" Bearing that it is harder to unravel your heart in front of millions then it is to take in someone elses stories.

Get this EP, You will not be disappointed on those cold nights by the fireplace, or on a rainy night.

2nd Hellogoodbye "When We First Met" EP

What has this band been up to since that loveable infections "Here (In Your Arms)" song. I have to admit I didn't realize how much I had missed their music until I ran across this Free EP. Almost four years now of putting out 2 short EPs before this EP. They are not the same Electro Pop infused band, there is no trace of another dance anthem here, after the hellogoodbye EP it seems as though they abandoned all back beats and stripped everything down for the Ukulele Recordings which was a step forward but certainly that EP had not grown to its full potential. That EP shows the steps Hellogoodbye took to get to "When We First Met" certainly a radio friendly current Electro Pop song. It plays with fun keys, catchy beats, and once again a chorus that catches your attention. I like the place that Hellogoodbye has grown too and I hope that this EP is a teaser for a soon to be released full length album.

Download Hellogoodbye When We First Met EP Free when you sign up for their email list! Really these two songs deserve at the very least your real email address.
FREE: www.myspace.com/hellogoodbye

3rd

The B.Reith EP

This is a teaser for the full length album "Now is Not Forever" available now. It is a great example of what you will get from B.Reith if you purchase his full length album. Certainly "The Comeback Kid" carries the greatness of this free EP. Im a sucker for dance anthems, any sort of beat that makes me turn my head and start to bop it back and forth. Comeback Kid is for certain the catchiest song I have heard from this singer/songwriter/rapper. B. writes in a relatable way, entering real life in a down to earth way. Thats what I think of his songs..."down to earth" 'Mess" is catchy and you will be singing the chorus back to yourself & right after that "Go On" will keep you boppin that head. "Wish That" is the only song on the EP that is a different direction then the others. You won't find yourself breakin to this song. All around for good feeling, cool vibes, and finally some lyricism from a talented soulful pop artist, then you will enjoy this.

Get it FREE on Amazonmp3.com

4th Miranda Lambert "What Are You Gonna Do"

Ok....I have a weakness when it comes to country. Her name is Miranda Lambert. I have not completely listened to her new album "Revolution' This song isn't on that record so its obviously just to get me hyped up about her again. She is not just another one of the many young and hot blonde country singers. I think she is referred to as the bad a** country star. She keeps a knife on stage during concerts and from what i hear has to shotguns in her tour bus. Im featuring this because Its a classic example of what well known artists should be doing. Miranda Lambert gave us a full length album, and a NEW free song for the heck of it. It's a great song too! Instantly added to my country playlist which has been starving for some adds.

Download this Song FREE on Amazonmp3.com

Go get those songs, most FREE songs aren't free for long, even if you download them now but don't listen to them till next month, trust me you will be glad you did.

Madi Diaz & Boys Like Girls

I decided to start a Album Review Blog...A) to just help me with writing. B) To help me develop a more critical ear to music C) To listen to more albums all the way through.

I know the first few reviews will be rough but hopefully I will get better!

Madi Diaz "Ten Gun Salute" (December 5, 2008)
My first interaction with Madi Diaz's music was at a Free Concert in Nashville. Actually she was singing harmony for an artist of which I have no recollection of. My first thought was, "They need to get a new girl to harmonize" Then that same girl walked on-stage and blew me away. Ten Gun Salute is a refreshing and sweet collection of seven songs. Full of friendly beats, simple lyrics, and a fresh pure voice. Sometimes most refreshing is to hear an album that captures an artists genuine voice. No song is overproduced, and no effects are put on Madi's vocals. I would say this is a true Nashville EP. It's an independent EP that showcase's a rising star in a way that any label would be stupid to pass up.
Ten Gun Salute leaves "Skin and Bone"(her debut EP) in the dust. Madi focuses less on pop influenced folk songs and simply owns a unique sound. "Lets Go", "Nothing At All", "Heavy Heart" & "Love You Now" kick off with such ease and flow so effortlessly together that by the time "Just Be Quiet" is on im ready to press repeat.
Purchase: The Album, Don't miss out on any song on this EP at $6.93 on itunes it is well worth it.

Boys Like Girls "Love Drunk" (September 8, 2009)
When I thought of Boys Like Girls I think "The Great Escape" "Thunder" "Hero/Heroine", these songs were huge in 07. These songs were anthems for the summer almost. I was excited about the "Love Drunk" release. When "Love Drunk" the single came out I was excited for what was to come. Boys Like Girls had produced another radio hit single. No question we knew they could. Then I started listening to the album. I have to preface this with my utter disappointment of Cobra Starships "Hot Mess". Just a month earlier I had the Cobra Starship album pre-ordered and ready to listen as soon as midnight came around. I found the online stream earlier and was disappointed at how Pop mainstream radio they had taken their album. Similar response to "Love Drunk". What happened, my main question was are you a Disney band now? Why is Taylor Swift playing on your record? Seriously "Two is Better Than One" must be the new single for High School Musical 4. I listened to the entire album twice and the only song that made any impression was "Love Drunk" which I had purchased earlier and like i began to boycott "Good Girls Go Bad" by Cobra Starship once I heard "Hot Mess" I now boycott "Love Drunk" after hearing the full album.
Purchase: Nothing, save your money for the next Band of the Summer.
